The newly reopened Canopy Community Hub in Grant Thorold Park will very soon be brightened up with a creative and attractive mural painted across all of the shutters around the building.
This large scale piece of art will be painted by local East Marsh artist Lynsey Powles, through a project from local social enterprise Capacity Buildings Ltd who have managed to secure funding for the project via the Safer Streets East Marsh programme currently running in the area.
Capacity Buildings were successful in their recent bid to the East Marsh Community Wallet fund and this means that visitors to Grant Thorold Park, Buffalo Bill’s Garden and the Forest School will all be treated to a vibrant piece of large scale art to improve the appearance of the building when it’s closed.
This is a community project too, so there will be a number of opportunities over the coming weeks and months for local young people to ‘have a go’ at some graffiti art when the artist, Lyns, leads some interactive sessions in the park at upcoming community events.
The project will work closely with Growing Healthy Minds CIC who are managing the community hub and with other partner organisations in the area who can help share news about the project.
Pop down to the park and watch this new art project unfold or follow progress on the Capacity Buildings website.
