Project: Covid-19 Response Project (Green Grow Boxes)
Funded by: The Coronavirus community support fund administered by The National Lottery Community Fund through arrangement with the Government
When: 2020 – 2021
Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, wil help us to deliver this Green Grow Box Programme which is running in the second half of 2020. Thanks to the Government for making this possible.
During the programme Capacity Buildings Limited will help people in North East Lincolnshire who are at high risk from COVID-19 and support communities most likely to face increased challenges as a direct result of COVID-19.
We’ll do this through our Green Grow Box programme.
Our activity will involve purchasing and distributing fruit and vegetable green boxes for people living in areas of multiple disadvantages in Grimsby and Cleethorpes with no access to a garden or allotment. Increasing opportunities to get people involved with thinking about green routes to resilience. We have a network of contacts already established through our community group work programmes. It will help residents at risk from COVID 19 by enabling them to grow their own produce to eat and engaging in positive activities during long periods of social isolation especially for residents who areliving alone. It will reduce the need to go out and purchase fresh produce too.
This activity will support the community at this time of crisis as we will be encouraging them to share
their experiences of growing fruit and vegetables in many cases for the first time using video clips and tos hare what works and doesn’t work with each other. This will help support mental wellbeing giving a sense of purpose as well as eating healthily and sharing how produce is used.
